Virtual Senior Center Activity program is a grant-funded project created to provide remote activities/services to seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to this unprecedented pandemic, seniors are strongly encouraged to stay at home and not participate physically in the array of senior activities at our three senior centers. This position will be leading the effort to coordinate and further develop the “virtual senior center” to provide activities and services to the seniors remotely to prevent/address social isolation among seniors.
This is a program that can grow and evolve. We are looking for someone passionate about seniors and their interests, familiar with emerging video conference or live streaming platform/technology, and willing to grow with this program. An ideal candidate is someone that is innovative, creative, and self-motivated that can help us coordinate, develop, and expand the program.
This is a part-time position with 30 hours per week; between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Qualification:
- Knowledge to use WeChat, Zoom, video-editing, and Microsoft applications, especially Microsoft Excel. Be able to work in a multi-cultural setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Being creative and have foresight for the program.
- Be able to work independently and in multiple teams.
- Proficient in Cantonese, and English. Mandarin is a plus. Able to write and read in both Chinese and English.
- Be flexible about work locations and hours, some traveling may be required. (Remote available due to COVID-19, but some on-site might be needed depending on program need)
- Strongly prefer:
- Experience working with seniors
- Social media (Facebook, Instagram, WeChat Official Account, YouTube etc.)
- Satisfactory CORI
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate virtual senior center activities with seniors, site managers, and volunteers across three of our senior centers in Boston.
- Host/Facilitate Zoom session with staff, volunteers, and senior participants. (Ex: ESL, Dancing,
- Tai Chi, etc.)
- Provide support to film/record teaching sessions to post online to share with seniors.
- Develop a diverse range of programs/activities suitable for senior needs.
- Reach out to potential volunteers to teach at the virtual senior center platform.
- Coordinate incoming requests from other interested parties (other agency, school groups, students, interns, companies etc.)
- Create promotional material for senior center programming and activities.
- Train seniors/company staff with remote conferencing platforms
- Handle stipend for volunteers/guest speakers.
- Teach basic smartphone/tablet/computer skills to seniors may be needed.
- Design and develop a sustainable virtual senior center activities procedure and protocol.
- Participate in meetings and special projects as needed.
- Report to Nutrition Director
